New task force is formed in line with the mall shooting at Columbia. This is for the benefit of those who were affected mentally by the incident.
The deadly shooting has been a sign for the officials to improve their mental health system and not just rely on an urgent care clinic. This was made official when Ken Ulman, Howard County Executive, held a meeting and signed up for the task force.
They have admitted that there are gaps in the system. This could be the main reason why the new organization is built in the first place. They will have to work on several cases of mental health issues to prevent suicides and other severe things from happening.
The Improvements Set by the New Task Force
It seems like there is urgent care now that the task force for mental health is established. In this new program, they have put in two new positions. The first is for the emergency petitions while the other is for the police department.
The police department will solely be handling the mental health cases. This is something so special about this task force. This means that there will be more focus on those who are trying to recover from the mental challenges brought about by the incident.
There will be classes held for the purpose of stabilizing the mental health, as well. Those who have seen or who were greatly affected by the shooting scene can easily come out and ask for help, instead of going to urgent care clinics.
Not the End for the Mental Health Service for the County
There is already an assurance that this task force is not the last straw for the government. There was already an approved budget for 2015 that will handle the cases. This means that there will be more services in the coming years.
The task force will become better, as well. There is already a promise to expand so that urgent care near me can easily be accessible to others, as well. They are primarily working on the different stakeholders. They will work with children, parents, and those who are already mentally-challenged to make everything better for everyone.
