Samsung has released a wearable band that can help you detect all your bodily functions. However, this is only a prototype. It will not be available in the market yet.
This could be the perfect material for those who want to track every single number in their body. It can also work with third-party gadgets to make the records more diverse and more accurate. It can also help researchers find more interesting studies in the field of medicine.
It will be called the Simband and the SAMI. SAMI stands for Samsung Architecture Multimedia Interactions. These were announced in a gadgets event held in San Francisco.
Teaming Up With Imec for This Project
Samsung has been working with a nanotechnology company to make this happen. Imec has been conducting researches in its office in Belgium to help the South Korean company. They have also tapped the University of California to make their health tips more precise.
The gadgets company is fully aware that this will not happen if the effort will only come from them. Somehow, this is also an effort to indulge as many health organizations as possible for this cause. They are, in fact, funding $50 million to anybody who can help them advance this idea.
Despite this, Samsung has promised that there will be a beta version before the year 2014 ends. This is also their way for other developers to run tests on it. There is a possibility that they will be using the data to even the competition or help Samsung for the same program.
Clipband Charger for More Efficient Programs
It will be harder to charge this unit because it may lose count of all the data inside. With this, there are speculations that Samsung will be using a clipband charger. This will be run on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. They could also work with a wireless charger that can be used during sleeping. This is more efficient because the wearer does not really have to take it off.
To induce more health tips in the health band, they are planning to add a ‘wellness score’. This is a track record of the healthy attitudes of the wearer.
There have been several attempts to produce an idea such as this one. Nike has it. Apple planned it. Now, Samsung has its hands all over it. Which among these top-tier companies can pull off the first legitimate health band?
