Apple fan boys and fan girls are expecting to hear about the newest App that the iOS company has to offer. The latest app called the HealthKit is expected to provide access to users’ health data, which could prevent the need for urgent care clinics. By launching this, the app inducts Apple into the market of health, which could draw more consumers to the market of fitness tracking.
Looking at the App Expectations
With the HealthKit app, Apple plans to have a stronger connection with the health market as its smart devices such as the iPhones and the iPads will be connected with this application, along with services for fitness-monitoring. Apple designed the app to track fitness, weight and nutrition. This is done by the app’s monitoring of the food intake, hydration levels, sleep cycle and other habits of the user that could be useful for tracking. By doing this, the app could prevent potential need for an urgent care clinic.
How the App Is Projected to Work
As HealthKit monitors the lifestyle habits of its users, the app should store the data. The data will then be accessed through the smart watch, another addition to the Apple family that is expected to be launched sometime within the year. The app and the watch will serve as replacement for the need to use other fitness apps that are third-party.
Other fitness and health apps like MayMyRun, Fitbit and Calorie Counter store its users’ stats in each app. So if you use Fitbit, your stats will remain there. According to the SVP of Software Engineering of Apple, Craig Federighi, it is impossible to get just one picture of your health that is comprehensive enough. Federighi believes this will be solved by HealthKit: an app that could help eliminate the need for urgent care.
Expected Success of the App
It is not just Apple who’s interested in diving in to the health market. Samsung also plans to venture into it, but experts say it won’t be as popular as Apple’s app. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for other companies though, because the involvement of Apple will definitely boost the economic standpoint of the health market. As this HealthKit becomes launched by Apple, the company expects users to ask the question “Where is an urgent care near me?” a lot less.
