How to Deal with the Underlying Complications of Lyme Disease?

Milford, Connecticut – The Pike County Lyme Disease Task Force, a support group established just the previous year has held its very first group meeting this Saturday, July 12, 2014 in order to educate people bout Lyme and its underlying complications.

Complications of Lyme Disease

How to Deal with the Underlying Complications of Lyme Disease? The northeastern United States (US), Wisconsin, and Minnesota are the major parts affected by the Lyme disease. It is basically a tick-borne illness and the peak of infection normally occurs during the early spring in southern states while later in northern areas. Overall, the human infection season  varies every year. The complications associated with the disease involve arthritis, nerve damage, and emotional damages. The task force discovered some symptoms that include mood swings or rapid shifts in emotions. Sandra McCaw, a registered nurse, licensed marriage therapist, and a member of the task force explained that victims of the said disease can share their stories and relate with other victims through the support group.

Further Advocacies

McCaw also confirmed that the US has the most numbers of domestic pets worldwide and emotional upheaval could result very easily when family pets are involved. She persuaded the medical community to “step up and develop a consistent protocol to deal with tick bites”. She also emphasized that based on a research, Lyme can be connected with other conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. She also pointed out that concerns should not only be applied to the human infections, but also for other diseases that ticks may transmit to chipmunks, mice, and squirrels. The support group will conduct meetings on every second Saturday of each month for further discussions and to assist victims who need urgent care and advice.

Lyme Disease Season

Researchers have discovered that the peak season of Lyme disease occurs during warm temperatures, less rain, and when there is high humidity. The research was based on the cases reported to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) along with the meteorological data gathered. The research is believed to help forecast predictions on when is the onset and peak of the said disease. During these seasons, victims should also be aware of the urgent care clinics within their locations so as to seek immediate medical care.

Lyme Disease Help

Victims of Lyme would always need an urgent care clinic for immediate diagnosis and proper treatment of the disease. Although the Lyme season has been identified in research works, victims of the disease must also identify an “urgent care near me” data, ensuring themselves of quick and easy access for necessary treatment. Lyme disease does not deal with concerns on human health, but also to family pets as well.
