COVID-19 Vaccination Updates

The CDC’s vaccine tracking page, which is updated daily, indicated that it has delivered 374.8 million vaccine doses to the states and administered a total of 311.8 million doses into the arms of people in the U.S. The math comes out to just about 44% of the population being fully vaccinated with either one or two shots, depending on the type.

Of the fully vaccinated demos, those 65 years or older make up the largest proportion at 76.5% fully vaccinated. Although the 18-64 year old demo is in second place for fully vaccinated people, the 12-15 year old demo, which was the most recent group to be green lit to receive shots, along with 16 and 17 year olds who were permitted to receive the Pfizer shot early on, are closing the gap on the delta between second and third place. 51.4% of 12-17 year olds are fully vaccinated compared to 54.6% of 18-64 year olds. This comparison is pretty astonishing considering the quantity of people in each group.

Within the last few weeks President Biden announced the White House’s goal of getting 70% of the U.S. vaccinated by July 4th. With nearly 45% of 18-64 year olds still holding off on any shot or at least the second shot (64.6% have received at least one shot), this goal is going to be difficult to reach.

As of July 14th, only 11 states have fully vaccinated at least half of their population according to Becker Hospital Review:

  1. Vermont – 61.9% fully vaccinated
  2. Maine – 58.04% fully vaccinated
  3. Massachusetts – 58% fully vaccinated
  4. Connecticut – 57.15% fully vaccinated
  5. Rhode Island – 55.45% fully vaccinated
  6. New Hampshire – 53.18% fully vaccinated
  7. New Jersey – 52.39% fully vaccinated
  8. Maryland – 51.95% fully vaccinated
  9. Washington – 50.71% fully vaccinated
  10. New York – 50.33% fully vaccinated
  11. New Mexico – 50.24% fully vaccinated
