A new study shows that exercise, even brisk walking, can easily help minimize the effects of Parkinson’s disease.
This is a very common motor system disorder. Usually, it also has effects on the mind. Some patients experience depression when they are diagnosed with such illness.
The study showed that walking at approximately 2.9 miles per hour is already enough for the patient to improve the condition of the patient. The results affected the tiredness, mental state, response, and even the gait speed of the person. In no time, they will need less urgent care if they will only exercise.
The Study and How It Was Really Done
People who are aged 50 to 80 were the ones included in the study. Sixty of them made it to the cut. They looked at the different intensities during walking, as well. They tried to see if brisk walking and moderate walking will make a difference.
They were all asked to walk 45 minutes a day. In a span of six months, they were able to do this weekly. To make sure that everything was documented, the participants will check their rates at an urgent care clinic. The researchers also put in heart rate monitors and other machines to look at their stats.
The Limitations that Was Set in the Study
Just like how every rule goes, there is always an exception. In this case, the study needs more depth. It only involved a limited number of participants. Also, there was no comparison made to the patients who are not into brisk walking.
This can be looked at in different ways. This can be a good sign because of all the possibilities promised by merely exercising. It can be improved by looking at longer term studies. These results, however, are already good to look at. Avoiding urgent care clinics at all costs is always going to be on the priorities of the family.
Right now, there is still no solid cure for this disease. Patients come and go at urgent care clinic just for care and for maintenance. It will help big time if there is a solution derived from this study.
Finding out that urgent care near me will not really be needed is already a good thing for these patients. Brisk walking is already a promising activity even to those who do not have the disease. Do you think the public should spend more time doing it?
